Practical Women

Covid-19 Response

During the Covid-19 crisis, in accordance with Government guidelines, The Practical Women team has only been able to deal with emergencies.

During this time, those of us whose time has not been taken up with child-care responsibilities, have been volunteering in our local communities; helping out our neighbours, volunteering as NHS Responders, supporting the BS3 Community Covid-19 Response Group & working with the BS3 Community Larder Foodbank.

You may have seen our vans driving around the area, delivering medicines and food to vulnerable & self-isolating members of the community.

As of May 11th, the Government has told us that we should be thinking about returning to work. While we are very concerned about the impact this decision may have on the more vulnerable members of the community, we also realise that some of our customers need work to be carried out in their houses.

As a team, we have discussed the best way to return to work and have drawn up some working practices which we intend to follow in order to be able to work in customers’ houses.

We will be contacting all our customers over the next weeks to discuss the possibility of returning to work over the next few weeks & months. If you would like Practical Women to carry out work for you, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Return to Work

Our Working Practices for returning to work post-Lockdown

Practical Women are a team of professional Bristol-based women. We offer a variety of practical services for the home:

  • Kitchen & Bathroom Fitting
  • Electrical & Plumbing Services
  • Painting & Decorating
  • Carpentry
  • Tiling
  • General Maintenance

We are happy to undertake a wide range of different projects; from small maintenance jobs, such as minor plumbing repairs, moving sockets, hanging curtain rails, putting up shelves etc.  through to larger projects such as fitting kitchens, installing decking and re-wiring houses.

We also collaborate with other local tradespeople. We have many contacts within the industry whom we can recommend to provide additional services. If we are unable to carry out your work for you, then we can recommend someone who can.

DIY Support

If you feel you need some support with a DIY project, perhaps to finish it off, or put right something that didn’t quite go to plan, please feel free to contact us & we will help you out.
